Stolen Moments, or Moments Stolen?

Time is one of the greatest and most precious things we have. Many times, things come up that destroy the schedule that you had set for yourself. We can’t control what other people do, so we do our best despite our setbacks.

I had to push the release of Lowella back a few weeks, as I have been dealing with the aftereffects of an emergency. My wife has become so ill to where she needs far more care and for me to drive her to her appointments, and now my black lab, Mabel, has a medical issue.

I love writing and editing, but my family must come first.

I’m grieved that she’s suffering like this, and my dogs are family too.

Sometimes life hits us with so many obstacles, but it’s how we come through those obstacles that defines us.

I’m also a perfectionist with word choice and writing like I’m writing music instead of just words. Editing this novel has me evaluating a lyrical style within our normal Earth, so I want to make sure that reflects a higher standard I have set for myself.

Formatting this book with page styles and newspaper articles is a daunting task as well. There are three viewpoint characters. Griffin, Lowella, and Detective Zinke. But in between each viewpoint is an article about certain events going on as the story progresses. You can’t only say that an article said something, a writer shows it by writing the article itself.

Quality is important to me, especially as I’ve matured as a writer and I can’t release something without polishing it to the extent I feel is satisfactory. I’ve made it a point to get these things out there quicker than other authors, not to lack in quality, but to push myself. Redoing The Symphonist is one example.

The series will continue with manga-style panels scattered throughout the text, instead of the way I had done it. Writers shouldn’t look back and write the next thing instead, but since I’m pressing on with another aesthetic, I may have to revisit The Symphonist again in the future.

My next light novel will stay on track, though.

I want the Orchestrylus Odyssey to finish by 2027.

The point is to keep going, and get there without doing things the wrong way. I want to do things right, even if it takes a longer amount of time.

Readers matter to me. You matter to me.

I wanted to release twelve novels this year at a minimum, but sometimes life gets in the way. I’m still aiming for at least six, seeing as working and life get in the way so often.

But I set my sights on what the future holds, even if it takes longer.

Doing things right is the way to go, even if it takes longer.

While life gets in the way, we move to the rhythm it offers and dance in the rain while waiting for the sun again.
