Say What’s in Your Heart
Sometimes it feels as though we’re stuck, like we can’t get out what we need to say.
This could be to God, a friend, or even a significant other.
Sometimes we aren’t at liberty to say what we must.
And misunderstandings can come in, further messing up what we wanted to say.
Offering our heart to someone else (not necessarily romantically) isn’t always the easiest thing to do.
Our spouses, friends, and others might not wear their heart on their sleeve, and you might have to peel back the layers to get to the core of the issue.
For my part, I want crazy transparency, not having to wear a mask. Straightforward is the way to be, as it makes things easier.
There is a certain discretion to keeping things locked in, but we serve a God who we can’t hide from.
He knows all our doubts, the whispers of the back of our minds, and the things we’ll do in twenty minutes.
This overarching constant eye upon our feelings leaves us bare and open, but it’s in those moments where we lay it all down at His feet that He does His best work.
Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.”
Job 31:4 “Does he not see my ways and number all my steps?”
There isn’t anything we can do to hide from God’s sight.
But in this notion, there is a torrential flood of good that it brings.
It means we can be honest with Him.
God wants to have us close, for us to say what’s in our heart.
There isn’t anything too far, anything too embarrassing for Him to understand.
God isn’t a man, that He will toss us away.
Talking to Him isn’t like confessing to a crush, we don’t have to fear rejection. He’ll hear us out no matter what we say.
And it’s okay to doubt Him sometimes. I don’t recommend doing that, but He’s an eternal being. He can take it.
Passover season is coming up, along with Easter. It’s that time of the year where we clean out the leaven in our life and start over fresh. As this time approaches, we need to be careful not to fall into traps and be open enough with our God to lay it down before Him.
Tell God what’s in your heart. He hears you when you don’t even think you have the words.
And He’s not judging you away into oblivion and outer darkness if there're some things from your darkest moments you need to unload.
He’s patient, understanding, and wants to be a loving Father to His children.
So say what’s on your heart. You will be pleasantly surprised to know that our King longs for that connection with us.
As Christians, we need to stop hiding from doubts and let them out.
We serve a big God, one who doesn’t brush us aside and remembers His vows to us in a covenant relationship.
That conversation will unload your heart and make things feel much lighter.
And the lighter you are, the more you defy gravity and get closer to heaven.
