Not What I Will, But What You Will
Sometimes we must let go of the “how” or “why” and realize God wants to use us the way He wants to use us.
He wants to give us what we need, but it must be done in His way and with His timing.
Sometimes that calling or vision you had of what is coming might not come to pass for decades, and at that point, you must ask yourself if you’re willing to wait.
Sometimes we choose a path not meant for us—sometimes not meant for us in that particular season—and we must course correct ourselves.
Whatever the case may be, we must trust our Father in the heavens has a purpose behind it.
Every heartbreak, every lost door, every time the LORD says, “Let me do it My way, not your way. My way is better.”
Maybe the reason you haven’t found your calling yet is because you’re not open to hearing the Father speak to your talents.
Maybe the reason the love of your life hasn’t come into your life yet is because you haven’t let that part of your life go, trusting Him to bring it to pass.
Maybe you lost that job, client, or opportunity because a far better one is on the horizon.
It reminds me of this meme:
His plan is better, and His blessings are far greater.
We must be humble enough to understand that we don’t always understand.
Teachable enough to learn, we haven’t figured it all out yet.
Open enough to redirect ourselves when God wants to use His Plan A, and you chased your Plan B.
We don’t always get what we are promised in the timetable we are expecting, which is all right, considering God knows best.
The being who ordered the universe—who controls monstrous spheres of almost infinite gravity and sets the stars in our sky—understands what the perfect time is for the things we want.
Maybe your hair must turn a little gray so you have enough wisdom for the path ahead.
We won’t always wait that long, but remember, it took Abraham 25 years to see a son who would be his heir, the key to becoming the father of many nations.
Joseph waited 22 years for His dreams of his family bowing down to him to come to pass.
Jesus Himself had to wait until He turned 30 to start His earthly ministry, coming at the perfect time in history, and even returning at the perfect time He chooses.
We must give up how we want things to be and understand the Father’s ways are far higher than our own.
God knows the best career path in your life.
He knows how to bring the one He intended, and what age is best for you to meet.
He knows what reason He had for allowing that family member to pass on to be with Him.
The truth is, as limited humans, we don’t understand the unfathomable thoughts of an eternal being who holds universes in the palm of His hand.
God has always been. He is omnipotent, and as He told Job in such a poetic manner, He does things beyond our understanding.
Sometimes, we must be as Jesus was, praying to the Father and saying, “Father, not what I will, but what You will.”
